Yes Lawd!

Artist: Nxworries (Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge)

Release Date: October 21, 2016

Length: 48 mins

Review: Anderson .Paak is a mixed bag of tricks. His ability to do different genres with ease is beyond impressive and is unlike any other right now. Back in 2016 when he started getting a little traction, he dropped two incredible projects, Malibu and the collab with producer Knxwledge under the Nxworries name, Yes Lawd!

The two originally dropped an EP titled Link Up & Suede back in 2015 to critical acclaim. The song Suede (released as a single in early 2015) actually intrigued Dr. Dre so much that he invited Paak to the Compton sessions, an album in which Paak is truly the star of and also the signing of Paak to Dre’s label, Aftermath Entertainment. After this album and the Nxworries EP released in late 2015, fans were begging for more from the duo coming off incredible years in their career.

Yes Lawd! is an album filled with various sounds and samples which Paak paints his stories over with ease. It takes you to a place where Paak is the boss and everyone else is around for his amusement. With the assistance of Knxwledge on production, Paak gives us an album that leaves you wanting more of his soulful voice over this chancy yet gorgeous production.

Five years and two albums later, Paak is a bona-fide star, having made singles for films such as Spies in Disguise as well as Trolls: World Tour and having an upcoming collab album with Bruno Mars. He has truly broken the mold for most artists in his category and continues to push boundaries. While all these are great accomplishments not to be overlooked, many fans still crave for more of Nxworries and the artists chemistry in which people became fans of Paak.

This album is considered a classic and his best in my opinion because of the timeless music. From the smoky and chill production to The Players Club samples throughout, the album feels like a fall afternoon with someone special. With a Nxworries song being on Knxwledge’s 2020 album, we can only expect more from the duo and hopefully, another album that will be another addition to Paaks growing discography.
